Job Description Eaton Aerospace's Hydraulic Systems Division has an opening for a Hydraulic Systems Engineer. This position could be located in Fort Worth, Texas; Los Angeles, California; or Jackson, Mississippi.

This position requires knowledge and experience of system engineering including design and integration of hydraulic power generation, distribution, and actuation sub systems architectures for aircraft applications. Skills involve recognizing customer performance needs along with meeting certification requirements for various global commercial and military aerospace applications.
Successful candidates will be able to independently lead an engineering team for a major project from initial conception through each of the design and development phases, up to and including aircraft flight certification.

Work assignments may be varied and challenging and involve complete responsibility of the design and qualification of a hydraulic system, as well as oversight into the responsibilities of less senior engineers. It is expected that this engineer would need minimal guidance when dealing with technical issues, and they must be self-directed as regards to the ownership and management of their tasks and schedules. Originality and ingenuity are required.

Over 50% travel may be required. The individual must be able to temporarily relocate to any global customer location for extended periods of three to six months.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

. Ability to define a hydraulic system architecture including redundancy / backup systems through trade studies that optimize system reliability, weight and cost. Implied with this skill is adequate knowledge of the following with the ability to adeptly discuss these subjects and their implications with customers:
- FAA regulations (including Advisory Circulars) and SAE Technical Standards that influence hydraulic system requirements and capabilities;
- Fault Tree and System Safety Analysis;
- Environmental requirements as they apply to military and commercial applications
2. Ability to understand aircraft hydraulic system level specifications, aircraft system layouts, interfaces with other aircraft systems. Assist the customer with the development of system level specifications.
3. Ability to decompose and flow down aircraft system level requirements to both subsystem and component suppliers through specifications and requirements documents.
4. Lead system design through a phase gate approval process including formal gate reviews to senior leadership and customers.
5. Ability to define, coordinate and review system model / simulation results with analysts and identify system risks and hydraulic performance effects such as dynamic performance transients, pressure drop and thermal performance.
6. Thorough understanding of hydraulic component performance, such as impulse and endurance requirements including industry standards (such as DO-160 and SAE-AS-5440) and ability to derive component requirements from the vehicle duty cycle.
7. Prepare or approve system documents, e.g. analysis reports, Qualification and Certification reports etc.
8. Participate in the development of test and certification documents for a given program.
9. Coordinate activities with Program Management, including planning, organizing, budgeting, labor estimating, program timing.
10. Establish technical work breakdown structures in coordination with Program Management.
11. Participate in the risk management process by identifying potential weak points, and develop solutions based on engineering judgment, inputs from Eaton experts, customer, suppliers and other systems partners.
12. Prepare technical presentations and lead meetings with the customer and other systems partners, distributing the results to the development team and coordinating actions as necessary.
13. Lead teams engaged in the above activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for interfacing with customers, suppliers, and team members.
The selected applicant should be a fast-thinking problem solver and should thrive in a dynamic environment.

1. Minimum 3 years experience with project management and work in a cross-functional product team

2. Experience with tools used for requirements flow-down / traceability (e.g. DOORS, etc.)

3. Good written, oral and presentation skills, leadership qualities and the ability to work well with customers and peers

4. Program Management skills, customer interface experience, and successful new product introduction experience

5. Lean and design for six sigma experience

6. Experience with geographically distributed teams and use of contracted resources

7. Demonstrated leadership skills, experienced with design processes, demonstrated results in managing programs within budgets and on time

8. Masters degree
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

Minimum 7 years experience working with hydraulic systems or subsystems

Must be able to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship
